The Diagnosis.

Some of you know I had a miscarriage last July. For the past year, I have generally not been feeling well--extreme fatigue being the most dramatic symptom among many others.

So, I've had a nagging feeling something is wrong. Anemia? Fibromyalgia like my mom? Thyroid problems--also like my mom? I started going to a wonderful MD who does integrated medicine. After lots of tests, here is the verdict:

-borderline anemia.
-low thyroid.
-extremely low potassium and other important minerals.
-most significantly, PCOS: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This reproductive issue causes
infertility and miscarriages.

In the doctor's words, "I'm not sure how you're functioning!"

Dr. B. and I have decided to treat these things nutritionally for six months, along with thyroid meds. If my hormones are not more normalized after 6mo., I will go to a traditional endocrinologist.

So there you have it.

Comments:
Wow, friend. How do you feel about all that?

I'm so glad you're getting answers. It must be SUCH a relief to know that you weren't just imagining all these things. (Which is how one feels when the doctor "can't find anything wrong.")

We'll definitely be praying for you over the next 6 months.

I was going to say exactly what Rox said. heartfelt ditto.

And again. I'll bet it feels good to be able to do something, though. Hope!

wow! you have had a lot going on....I didn't know you were still not feeling well.....I hope that the meds work.....
love ya!

How many times can different people say "ditto" and have it still be heartfelt? I hope that it's at least 4 times, because then this counts. Seriously, I am glad for you to be finding out more about what all is going on, and hopefully that will lead to some improvements. I, too, am praying for you.

Knowledge is definitely power! Email me if you want to get connected with some PCOS women who really know their stuff.

Thanks guys for your comments. I am actually feeling pretty sad and overwhelmed as I adjust to this new information. My doctor is advocating an organic, raw-foods heavy, no-sugar or refined anything diet. While I totally believe this would only do my body good, I am feeling not so much up to the task at the moment. It's hard to make a difficult lifestyle change in order to be well--when you're NOT well.

I forgot to mention: I will also be using bio-identical hormones to try to get my endocrine system healthy.

All things work together for good for those who are in Christ.

Pooter-

I'm sorry you are dealing with so much! I've been wondering how you are feeling!
