The Trickle-Down Effect.
Clothing trendiness all the way to hip catch-phrases.....what's cool all depends on where/who/how old you are.....there's definitely a culture gap of about 5-10 years between what's cool with "the cool ones," (late high-school/college age) and elementary students....For instance, "Boo-yah!" is currently a super-cool thing to say in fourth grade. It makes me laugh.
