Giotto love, part tres.

I'm having trouble making this image look as good as the real thing... sorry about the flash reflection. But isn't this beautiful? Inspired by an image in one of our Giotto books. I actually think this student was looking at a painting of another late medieval artist who influenced Giotto.....By a fourth grade student--one with some serious natural talent!!

Comments:
I really like the colors in this one. I am also impressed with the rendering of the figure. Very good for a young one.

On a completely different note: I found a website with quicktime videos that show how to knit and how to pearl (or purl). It has video of both from the German way (string in left hand) and from the English aka American way (string in right hand). I was trying to understand how to purl when I came across this site. This was infinitely more helpful to me than the page of written directions I had. So, for those of you who need to "see" it done as opposed to just reading it, here's the website info:

www.knittinghelp.com

It actually seems to have video for several things.

Also, I just wanted to celebrate with someone that I finally completed my scarf (which I have been working on for over a year). YEA!!!!!

thanks for that site, kellsey!

hurray for the finished scarf!!!

WHat was the lesson? This work is relly very good, I like that it is inspired and not copied. Copying isnt all bad but a student artist being inspired by one visual to create another is a pretty awesome event.
